Companies have known for years that encouraging community efforts can reflect positively on the business. Our Trailblazers deemed this relationship crucial to the success of diversity and inclusion within their companies, since this involvement drives results in several ways.

Being concerned with the neighborhood leads to using a greater representation of workers that reflect the community. Note that nowhere in these attention announcements is there a reference of inclusion and diversity. There is no need, since these are general business announcements where diversity and inclusion is implicit.

The Community Modelillustrates the essential elements of a successful community involvement process. The organization must become clear in their brand and their marketplace. This subsequently allows collaboration among business category leaders, and corporate community relations in the goal-setting process. Once goals are set, communication, recognition, and rewards for participation could be disseminated throughout the business.

Once an organization has apparent diversity and improvement goals associated with community participation, its leaders' and employees' activities as community volunteers are more likely to elicit tangible results. This deeper comprehension of each of the men and women who comprise the community permits executives to make more informed decisions regarding how their company affects the community.
